Afghanistan Zombie Sniper

Afghanistan Zombie Sniper

Cliff was a Scout/Sniper with the USMC. The year is 2004. This is Cliff's second tour in Afghanistan. Checking up on a small village that was rumored to be a supply point for Al Queda. This was out in the mountains bordering Pakistan. When I say bordering Pakistan, I mean they were actually in Pakistan. Cliff had nerves of steel, but tonight the air was different. Something was unsettling.

Cliff was accompanied by Roger. Roger was Cliff's spotter and radio man. This was a special job that was assigned by the CIA, but as usual, Cliff believed this was more than just a supply point. In the back of his mind, Cliff was hoping to be the one to put a bullet in the head of Usama Bin Laden.

The time was approximately 1AM. Two large trucks followed a small Toyota pick-up. The trucks stopped in the middle of the town and the men all filed out. There were 50 men in all. Then the passenger got out of the pickup and uncovered some canisters. The passenger and driver put on full NBC gear (Nuclear, Biological, Chemical). The tow leaders put on their gear. One of them twisted a dial on the canister. The soldiers began singing.

The whole scene reminded Cliff of his basic training. In a bunker, Cliff had to sing "Mickey Mouse" while getting gassed with tear gas and mace. Was this a test of some new chemical weapon? After the singing was finished, The two in NBC suits starting instructing the soldiers to begin doing jumping jacks. About 3 minutes in, The soldiers started falling down. After 5 minutes, All were on the ground. It looked as though they were not breathing.

The two men in the NBC uniforms took off their gear and started checking the pulses of the soldiers laying on the ground. One of the men screamed "Allah Akbar". About 20 men and boys came out of the surrounding homes and starting shooting their AKs in the air and dancing around.

Cliff looked at Roger and said "this doesn't look good". Let HQ know. Roger let their CIA handler know that it looked like Al Queda has got their hands on a chemical weapon. As Roger was on the radio, One of the seemingly dead soldiers jumped and ripped open a man's chest with his bare hands. Soon all 50 soldiers were on their feet ripping the villagers apart. The two Arabs that were in the NBC garb tried to jump into the cab of the Toyota truck. They were quickly pulled out of the truck and ripped apart.

Cliff looked on in complete fear. Cliff told Roger to get back on his night vision. Roger swallowed deep when he saw the carnage. The villagers were dumping magazines into the zombie soldiers at close range and nothing was happening. In less than 3 minutes, over thirty people were ripped apart. Heads, arms, and legs pulled off. Roger and Cliff were 3000 yards away, but felt defenseless. Even with their rifles and drone flying overhead with hell fire missiles.

The zombie soldiers let out a hi pitched squeal and went into the surrounding buildings. You could hear occassional gun shots and screams of women and children. Roger detailed what he had seen on the radio. Cliff looked to Roger, "so, when are they gonna get us out of here?". Roger replies in a shaky voice "They want us to drive that truck to an LZ back in Afghanistan where a C-130 will take it". Cliff gave a thumbs up. "Let's see if head shots work on these demon soldiers". At 3000 yards, Cliff centered in on one of the zombie soldiers and pushed the trigger back. A loud boom, then Cliff refocused on the target through his scope. The .50 caliber round dropped right on the brain and the zombie soldier hit the ground.

"Well, I guess Romero was right in all those movies". After 45 minutes of sniping. Roger counted out 21 total dead zombie soldiers. One thing many people don't know about snipers, is their attention to detail. Snipers are recon and need a solid memory to report back to their superiors. Shooting is the fun part, but usually not the important part.

The zombies had no idea why they were falling and they didn't even notice their cohorts hitting the ground. It was though they were full of rage and looking for anything to kill. Roger radioed in that they were moving toward the truck. Ciff had his Barrett and Roger had his M-4. Roger said "I hope the 5.56 headshot is enough". After 30 minutes of low crawling Cliff and Roger were close to the truck. They ducked down. At least 9 more zombie soldiers left.

Nobody was out in the open. Roger jumped in the truck while Cliff was about 50 yards out covering Roger. Roger jumped in the cab. The keys were in the ignition. Relieved, Roger did not want to go through the bloody mess to get the keys off a body. Roger started the engine and all nine zombie ISIS soldiers came running out of the surrounding buildings. One was dropping the hind leg of a dog that was dripping with blood. Cliff shot the first zombie in the lead. Quickly cycling new rounds he got the other two. Roger took off in the truck with two zombies jumping into the bed of the truck with the canisters.

Cliff blew off the head of the zombie creating a haze of skull fragments and brain matter. The demon soldier fell back out of the truck. Roger pulled up close to Cliff's location in the truck and slammed on the brakes sending the last zombie flying. Roger jumped out of the truck. The zombie started running toward Roger. With his M-4 set to three round bursts, Roger shot the zombie in the crotch. The zombie stopped and squealed, but began running at top speed toward Roger. Roger dumped the rest of the magazine into the zombie's head, but it just kept coming. Cliff downed the zombie with just one shot from his .50. Roger said to Cliff, "I just had to try once".

Cliff threw the body of the lifeless zombie into the back of the truck with the canisters. They drove off into the night. At the waiting C-130, Lights were set up. Cliff and Roger drove up into the back of the C-130 with canister and the dead zombie in the bed of their new Toyota pick-up.

Cliff and Roger fell to sleep in the back of the plane. Both too exhausted to hear the hissing sound coming from the canister that was not completely closed.
